Anti-drugs project under threat
Mary Smith OBE
Mrs Smith founded KWADs after her son was jailed for drugs offences
A community drugs treatment service in a rundown area of Bristol is in danger of closing because of funding problems.

Knowle West Alcohol and Drugs Service (KWADs), now into its 11th year, helps more than 500 people annually.

Mary Smith who set up KWADS after her son went to prison for drugs offences, was awarded an OBE For her efforts.

But the service is in danger of closing unless it receives additional funding from central government. The deadline is the end of March.

Seven staff would use their jobs if the centre were to close.
