The City Academy is on the site of St George School, which was demolished to make way for it.

The academy has taken eight months to build and provides state-of-the-art sporting facilities for 1,000 students.

It boasts the largest sports hall in the region, which contains 12 badminton courts and a floodlit football pitch allowing round-the-clock training.
