Publicans on soccer thugs alert
Police on the scene of trouble last year
Bristol has seen its share of football-related trouble
Police in Bristol have warned pub landlords they could be targeted by violent soccer fans heading for Saturday's FA Cup final in Cardiff.

Earlier this season, fights broke out in the city between Middlesbrough and Bolton fans before the Carling Cup Final leading to many arrests.

The fans were believed to have orchestrated the violence on websites.

One landlord said: "Police said we should be boarding up the windows and taking every precaution we can."

Officers would not discuss tactics for the expected influx of fans.

But Supt John Long, of Avon and Somerset Police, said: "We have had some contact with hoteliers and bar owners who are making arrangements to cope with the additional demands.

"We all working together to cope with any problems that could arise."

The final takes place in Cardiff between Millwall FC and Manchester United.
