Man in coma after ambulance wait
Ambulance leaving to attend accident
The injured man had to wait for almost an hour for an ambulance
Avon Ambulance Service is carrying out an investigation after a cyclist, who is now in a coma, had to wait nearly an hour for help to arrive.

The man suffered injuries following an accident involving four bicycles in Frampton Cotterell on Saturday evening.

The injured man, 41, who is a haemophiliac, was eventually taken to Frenchay Hospital by ambulance.

Terry Haywood, from the service, said: "Saturday was an exceptionally busy evening for us."

He added: "Between 11pm and 1am we attended 60 emergency calls - a call every two minutes.

"Unfortunately our resources were limited to 12 ambulances and a small number of support vehicles."

A friend of the injured man, David Harvey-Brown, said: "At the time I was very frustrated.

"I couldn't understand why it was taking so long - they told us the crews were all fully occupied."
