Archaeology work draws to a close
Excavation work by archaeologists at the Canons Marsh area of Bristol is about to finish.

Members of Cotswold Archaeology have been working on the site in the city centre for eight months. They have dug six trenches.

The team has found remains of a medieval building, as well as streets and lanes linking the building to the waterfront and Canons Marsh.

Work is due finish on Thursday and the area will be then covered up.

The Canon's Marsh area will be developed as part of the regeneration of the city's Harbourside.

Plans for the derelict former industrial estate include designs for flats, hotels, bars and a casino.

The regeneration project comes almost 40 years after industrial activity there ended.
