Hunt as murderer goes on the run
Owen Gordon Davies is wanted by the police
Police say Davies should not be approached.
Police are still hunting a convicted murderer who has gone on the run from an open prison in the region.

Owen Gordon Davies, 41, left Leyhill Prison South Gloucestershire, four days ago to attend a work placement in Bristol but he failed to arrive.

Davies is described as clean-shaven, 5ft 7ins, of stocky build with a heart tattoo on his right upper arm. He speaks with an Australian accent.

Police say he is not "dangerous" but should not be approached.

Davies was sentenced to life imprisonment on 1 January 1995 for the murder of an 83-year-old man near Kentish Town in London.

A police spokesman said it is not known whether Davies was still in the Bristol or South Gloucestershire area.

"It is possible he may be attempting to leave the country and ports and airports have been alerted and Interpol contacted," he said.
