Bus schemes boosted by grants
Bus passengers in Bristol and North Somerset could benefit from more than 400,000 in funding.

The money is part of 19.6m that is being awarded by the government to 40 urban bus schemes across England.

A total of 240,000 has gone to the Hartcliffe and Withywood community partnership for six new minibuses.

North Somerset Council has also received 180,000 to create new bus routes.

The money is from the Urban Bus Challenge, which helps regenerate deprived urban areas by improving local transport.

Transport Minister Tony McNulty said: "Buses are a major link for many people and the schemes which have been awarded funding will bring real benefits to many communities."
