Green buses used to be a familiar sight in Bristol |
Traditional green buses are to return to the streets of Bristol more than 20 years after they were phased out. Emerald-coloured buses were a familiar sight across the city 50 years ago.
But the old-style vehicles disappeared following the privatisation of the council-owned Bristol Omnibus Company in the 1980s.
They were replaced by a host of multicoloured buses belonging to the various firms which took over travel routes around the city.
Now a group of transport enthusiasts have persuaded First Group to paint one of their buses green.
They say the old-fashioned colour is part of the city's heritage and should be preserved.
