Footie fan's bike challenge
City Cat and Jeremy Boon
Jeremy Boon expects to travel more than 7,000 miles on his bike
A Bristol City football fan has given up his job to cycle to and from every game this season.

Jeremy Boon, 35, is taking up the challenge to raise money for a breast cancer charity.

Mr Boon, who works in IT, has been an active supporter of the club for nearly 20 years.

In recent years he has taken part in endurance sports and triathlons and the 2001 London Marathon.

He ran the marathon in aid of The Breast Cancer Campaign, the charity to benefit from the cycling challenge.

Mr Boon said: "The campaign kicks off this month, launching me into the unknown with less than three days to get to Chesterfield.

"There are four away trips in September, including Queen's Park Rangers followed by an immediate cross-country trek to Plymouth."

His longer journeys will include such distances as a 500-mile round trip to Hartlepool and more than 200 miles each way to Grimsby - both in January.

"At present, if I detour the big cities and miss the most dangerous roads, it is looking like a total of 7,000 or more miles," said Mr Boon.

"That's before any unforeseen cup travel so there are interesting times ahead.

"As for now, I will be taking each game as it comes."
