Flying solo for hospice
Angela Robotham and plane
Angela Robotham took off from Bristol
A Bristol woman is flying around the British coastline to raise money for a new children's hospice.

Angela Robotham, an engineer, hopes to raise 10,000 in the week-long challenge which will end at Kemble airfield in Gloucestershire.

She said that flying solo for 2,000 miles in stages would be "quite an adventure" after having only qualified 18 months ago.

"For a pilot with relatively few hours this is quite a challenge, dealing with air traffic control and airports I've never been to and dealing with the weather."

The wings of Angela Robotham's plane - which set off from Bristol Flying Centre at the city's international airport - have been decorated with good luck messages from supporters.

The new South west children's hospice is to be built near Bristol and will mean families will no longer have to travel to Devon.

Nicola Venus, who went with her daughter Courtney to see the plane take off, said: "The new hospice is going to be 20 minutes away from where we live.

"For families in Bristol it will be fantastic."
