In total, 500 houses are planned for Temple Quay 2

A total of 300 new homes are planned near Bristol Temple Meads station.

Barratt Homes have just bought a site in the 200m development nearby - Temple Quay 2 - and will submit a planning application for the homes later this year.

They bought the site from developers Castlemore Securities, who in turn have just taken on 1.8 hectares of land along the Floating Harbour.

Castlemore says it will now apply for permission to start work on an office building along the waterfront.

When work starts, the developers will transfer land in the middle of Temple Quay 2 to the city council for the expansion of Hannah More Primary School.

Castlemore will also make a payment of 500,000 for infrastructure improvements in the area.

As part of the development, the South West Regional Development Agency has purchased land next to Temple Meads for a proposed indoor arena able to accommodate 10,000 people.

When it is finished, Temple Quay 2 will include 60,000 sq m of offices, 500 new homes,1,700 sq m of retail space and a 5,000 sq m south-facing waterside leisure complex.
