Fire clears shopping centre
Firefighters
Over 30 firefighters attended
Hundreds of people have been forced to leave a shopping centre in Bristol after a fire in an electrical sub-station.

Eight engines from Avon Fire Brigade were called to the blaze at The Galleries in Broadmead at about 0900 BST.

No one was injured, although two people were rescued from a lift shaft.

The centre's automatic extinguisher system put out the basement fire, and the cause of the incident is now under investigation.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire Brigade said: "The smoke percolated through the building and into the store.

"We are going through the buiding making sure the smoke has cleared and everything is ok," he added.

One witness told BBC News Online: "There was a big bang, and the lights just went out."

The Galleries reopened at about 1330 BST on Saturday.
