The arrested men have all been released on bail |
Thirteen football fans were banned from Saturday's game between Huddersfield and Millwall after they were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder. Fighting broke out between rival fans 45 minutes before the clubs last met in Huddersfield last month. West Yorkshire Police said eight men were arrested in south east London on Wednesday and five were held in Huddersfield on Friday. The clubs drew 0-0 in the League One play-off semi-final in Huddersfield. There had been no reports of any arrests when the match ended just after 1400 BST. CCTV studied Police officers were present across the town throughout the day to "reassure supporters, the local community, shoppers and retailers". The 13 men who were arrested have been released on bail while inquiries continue, with conditions attached to their bail that prevent them from attending football matches. Det Insp Jim Griffiths said before the match: "We hope these latest arrests will have a positive impact on today's play-off match at the Galpharm stadium. "Around 40 people are believed to have been involved in the disorder on Wakefield Road following the previous game between the clubs. "We are now looking at CCTV footage from that incident to identify others and take the appropriate action."
