People in Yorkshire could save more than �200 a year on power bills by switching suppliers, cutting waste and paying by direct debit, a report shows. Consumers still taking gas from British Gas are paying up to �52 a year more than if they had switched supplier, says energy watchdog Ofgem.
And those still with Npower are paying up to �27 more for electricity.
Energy efficiency measures could cut bills by a further �50-�100 a year and direct debit payments could save �35.
Simple steps
Ofgem chief executive Alistair Buchanan said: "Our research shows that despite rising energy prices it is possible for customers in Yorkshire to save on their energy bills by taking three simple steps.
"Our advice is to switch your energy supplier if you have still not done so, make sure your home is as energy efficient as possible and choose the cheapest payment method for your energy bills."
