Warning of festival ticket scam

Reading Festival
Music fans should avoid buying tickets from unauthorised websites

Music fans are being warned to avoid scam websites which falsely claim to be selling Reading Festival tickets.

Officers from Thames Valley Police have urged people not to buy from unauthorised sources.

The warning follows reports of fake websites instructing people to collect non-existent tickets on site.

Ch Insp Dave Parker said: "We could be turning away some disappointed people, who have handed over money for festival tickets which do not actually exist."

The Reading Festival website contains a list of ticket websites which have not been supplied with tickets to sell.

Ch Insp Parker added: "If people do hand over money and don't receive the tickets we will of course carry out an investigation, but we would urge people to avoid these websites in the first place."

He also warned people without tickets to stay away from the venue.

"If you haven't got a ticket there is no chance of getting in to the festival site. There will not be any tickets available to buy at the site."

Kings of Leon, Artic Monkeys and Radiohead are headlining this year's Reading Festival which runs from 28-30 August.
