Gun factory accused jury retires

The jury in the trial of two men accused of converting replica guns into live weapons has retired for the weekend to consider its verdict.

The firearms, discovered in an outbuilding and woodland, have been linked to 51 shootings, including eight murders, Reading Crown Court has heard.

Grant Wilkinson, 34, and Gary Lewis, 38, have denied nine charges relating to firearms.

Ammunition and guns were found at the sites in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.

The charges include conspiracy to convert imitation firearms; conspiracy to sell or transfer firearms; conspiracy to sell or transfer ammunition; possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life; two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon and two counts of possession of ammunition with intent to endanger life.

The jury was sent out on Friday afternoon and will return to deliberate its verdict on Tuesday.
