More than 200 people, who use the First Great Western (FGW) service between Pangbourne and London, signed the document calling for urgent action.

They presented it to Reading West MP, Martin Salter, on Thursday as part of a series of protests against timetable changes introduced last December.

FGW said it was reviewing the situation and would make changes where possible.

'Terrible service'

Commuters have complained about a cut in the number of peak-hour direct trains to and from London which has caused overcrowding on trains.

Mr Salter, who last month received a petition from commuters using Reading West station, said: "It's a year since I first took this issue up on behalf of my constituents.

"First Great Western have still not taken the steps needed to reduce the unacceptable overcrowding and terrible service that commuters from Reading West, Pangbourne and Tilehurst stations are enduring."

In a statement, FGW said it had received customer feedback from Pangbourne and had been in discussions with Mr Salter.
