Sat nav units targeted by thieves

Police said systems on display invited opportunist thieves
Drivers with satellite navigation systems are being warned to remove them when not in use as thefts of the devices increase in Berkshire.

In the last few days sat navs were stolen from a car in Leonardslee Crescent, Newbury, and from a lorry at the M4 services at Burghfield.

Ch Insp Geoff Smith said: "Leaving them on display on your dashboard is like leaving a bundle of money on the seat."

The units should always be removed when cars are parked overnight, said police.
