Officers train with birds of prey
Police officer with Bald Eagle
The officers were taught to handle Bald Eagles
Police wildlife officers have been getting to grips with the kind of problems they might face when dealing with birds of prey.

Seven officers from Thames Valley Police were trained at the Cotswold Falconry Centre in Gloucestershire.

They handled bald and golden eagles, learning to control the birds safely and remove them from enclosed areas.

Force bosses say the unlawful possession and importation of protected species of birds is a growing problem.

Pc Dave Hawkins, who organised the event, said: "We wanted to develop the knowledge of officers who may come into contact with these kinds of birds so that they can ensure their safety and that of the bird's if they need to handle them or remove them from premises."
