Householders are urged to beware of bogus charity workers who claim to be collecting clothes for the Third World but then sell the goods in the UK. The gang has distributed flyers to homes in West Berkshire, promising goods will be sent "to those in need".
But trading standards officers warn that they are instead sold for profit.
Theresa Bashford, trading standards officer, said: "Our advice is to only donate to well known charities or to your local charity shop."
