Residents in Windsor are being urged to pump up the volume when voicing their anger over the noise caused by night flights from Heathrow. Householders have until 29 October to lodge objections to government proposals, which could potentially lead to a noise increase.
Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council want night flights to end.
The local authorities have taken newspaper adverts to publicise the consultation period.
'Demands of the aircraft industry'
Posters calling on the community to take action will also be displayed in libraries, council offices and other public buildings.
Councillor David Eglise, a member of the Local Authorities Aircraft Noise Council (LAANC) and the Windsor Area Aviation Action Group (WAAAG), said: "We need to make sure the government is aware of the full force of opposition to anything which will potentially make night flight noise worse.
"People are at the end of their tether, thanks to the continual disruption caused by aircraft noise, and the council is determined the Department for Transport will be left in no doubt about the depth of frustration and anger over this issue.
"The council's policy has always been to get night flights phased out over a fixed period of years and we - and the community we serve - will not be content until we have achieved this objective."
He added: "We believe that, with the full backing of local people who have simply had enough of night flights, we can make an impact on government thinking. We won't be put off and we won't go away."
The council believes the government wants to maximise the amount of aircraft movements at Heathrow with a number of strategies including increasing the number of night flights and relaxing some existing noise controls.
