Nine held after vice police raids
Oxford Road
Two properties were raided in Oxford Road itself
Nine people have been arrested in a series of police raids targeting suspected brothels in an area blighted by the illegal sex trade.

Three addresses were searched by police officers in Regents Court and Oxford Road in Reading, Berkshire, on Tuesday.

A man was also arrested in the town in the morning on suspicion of assisting with the management of a brothel and controlling prostitutes for money.

A woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting with brothel management.

Thames Valley Police's spokesman was unable to provide any more details of those arrested as the operation continued in the afternoon.

Warrants were served at the three addresses at 1330 BST before paperwork and other evidence was seized.

The area around Oxford Road has been at the centre of a long-standing police crackdown on prostitutes and crack dens.
