Crime-busting cameras on the move
Mobile camera
The cameras will be used to target graffiti and vandalism
Roving CCTV cameras are to be brought to crime hot-spots across the Thames Valley in an effort to stop vandals.

Thames Valley Police have been given the go-ahead by the Home Office to set up two mobile security camera units.

The cameras will be used specifically to target graffiti, vandalism and car theft and damage in troubled areas normally without fixed CCTV coverage.

Detective Constable Dave White said: "These units will be an excellent tool to help solve community problems."

The units will be used in both rural and urban areas and at special events like pop festivals.

Julian Lomas, Government Office of the South East director for Thames Valley, said: "It is great to see GOSE funding being put to use in such an effective way.

"I firmly believe than mobile CCTV vans are an important tool in the continued fight against crime."
