People who buy cards before the end of March get 10% off travel |
Searching for change could become a thing of the past for bus passengers in Reading when a new smart card scheme is introduced. People travelling on services run by Reading Buses will be able to pay with a card that they top up with credit before travelling.
Passengers who pay money onto one of the cards before the end of March will get 10% off their journeys.
The Readicash scheme starts on 26 January and smart cards are available from the Reading Bus travel shop in Chain Street.
The Berkshire company hopes the new cards will speed up boarding times and be handier for customers.
Reading Borough councillor John Howarth said: "This is another step in our ongoing programme to ensure that travelling on public transport in Reading is as easy and convenient as possible."
