Ms Moran is being investigated by the Parliamentary Commissioner |
The suspended parliamentary inquiry into Luton South MP Margaret Moran has resumed after she was filmed seeking lobbying work while on sick leave. She is being investigated for claiming £22,500 on expenses for treating dry rot in her Southampton home, which is about 90 miles from her constituency. She has been on sick leave since May and constituents have been told she is too unwell to speak to them. But she was secretly filmed telling a reporter she was available for work. The undercover reporter was posing as a representative for a lobbying firm for the Channel 4 Dispatches programme, which was aired on Monday night. A spokeswoman for the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards John Lyon confirmed the inquiry had resumed. Ms Moran was unavailable for comment when contacted by the BBC. She told The Sunday Times earlier this week that she would not have started the lobbying work until after the General Election and was still recovering from an illness.
