Honour for Marshall amp creator

The man behind the creation of amplifiers used by some of the world's greatest rock bands is being honoured by Milton Keynes Council.

Dr Jim Marshall, 85, established Marshall Amplification in 1962 and has given millions of pounds to charity.

On Thursday night he will receive the Freedom of the Borough of Milton Keynes - only the third person to do so.

Marshall Amplification employs about 170 in Milton Keynes producing 5,000 amplifiers a month.
