Faryl Smith has released the fastest-selling solo classical debut album

The winner of a television talent show from Northamptonshire has broken a music record with her first album.

Britain's Got Talent star Faryl Smith has released the fastest-selling solo classical debut album yet, the Official Charts Company has confirmed.

The 13-year-old singer from Kettering sold 20,000 albums in the first four days of release.

This broke a release record held by New Zealander Hayley Westenra whose debut album ousted Charlotte Church in 2003.

Ms Smith's album, Faryl, was released on Monday.
