Luton hosts one of the largest one-day carnivals in Britain |
Music and costumes from across the globe will been seen in procession around the streets of Luton on Monday. More than 50 different clubs, groups, bands and entertainers are taking part in the town's annual carnival.
Thousands of people are also expected to enjoy the international event which has been running since 1976.
It began as a Victorian street fair to mark the borough centenary and a decade later it became an international event with a large lottery award.
This year there will be masquerade groups, sound trucks, steel bands and stilt walkers with the parade starting from Wardown at 1300 BST.
The carnival route will not go through the town centre because of the redevelopment of St George's square.
However, Market Hill will be transformed into an entertainment arena with live local music.
