Fuel surcharges at rivals have lifted Ryanair passenger numbers |
Budget airline Ryanair is to ban staff from charging mobile phones at work. The operator, with major bases at Luton and Stansted, claims savings can be passed on to passengers through lower ticket prices on services into Europe.
A Ryanair spokeswoman said the company did not believe using a mobile phone charger at work was acceptable.
"The cost may not be expensive but every penny saved counts and all savings go back towards lowering fares," she said.
She also said staff had not been upset by the ban.
Staff at the airline, which reported profits of 20m in the last quarter of 2004, also have to buy their own uniforms.
