Drivers warned of A421 closures
Motorists using one of Bedfordshire's busiest roads face delays this weekend as the road is resurfaced.

The A421 between Bedford and Great Barford will be closed all day on Saturday and Sunday.

The road is one the county's main East-West routes, linking the M1 with the A1 and Bedford with Cambridge.

It will be closed from the Bedford Bypass roundabout at Renhold to the crossroads at Great Barford for three successive weekends.

Traffic diversions

The closure will run from first thing on Saturday mornings until 6pm every Sunday.

Traffic will be diverted along the A603 to Sandy and then up the A1 to the Black Cat Roundabout.

A Highways Agency spokesman said local traffic and buses would be allowed access.

Resurfacing work is being carried out on worn out stretches of carriageway before construction of the Great Barford bypass gets under way.
