New police powers to seize cars
Anti-social drivers can have their vehicles seized under new powers given to police in Hertfordshire.

Officers and community safety officers can now seize any vehicle deemed to be causing "alarm, distress or annoyance".

Chief Insp Graham Weston, who helped introduce the new powers, said: "Our officers won't hesitate to use them.

"We aim to protect the quality of life of people living in the county." The law came in during September and warnings have already been issued.

The new police powers to seize vehicles includes motorbikes being used off road, cars racing on the highway or in public car parks.

If a vehicle is seized, the owner will have to pay a minimum fee of 105 plus 12 a day storage to recover their vehicle.
