Players honour paralysed teenager
Matt King
Matt King was paralysed playing rugby four months ago
Four months ago teenage rugby fanatic Matt King's family was told he might not survive when a tackle left him paralysed from the neck down.

He survived but the accident shattered 17-year-old Matt's dreams of playing professionally for Bedford.

But Matt, from Biggleswade, was back at his favourite ground to watch Bedford playing the Harlequins on Wednesday.

At half time Matt's determination was recognised with a presentation by World Cup winning player Will Greenwood.

"I just love rugby. I just want to get back to what I did before and try to live a normal life. Rugby was part of my life before I was injured," he said.

Matt had expected to be in Stoke Mandeville Hospital for two years but now the family hopes he will be home in November.

His mother, Glenda, said: "Matt has just been strong through this.

"He has taught us all lessons in how to cope with such devastation."

And the score in the pre-season friendly? Matt saw the Bedford Blues win 10-7.
