Jason Euell
The Blackpool striker was allegedly the victim of racial abuse

A man has been arrested in Stoke-on-Trent over allegations of racial abuse against a football player.

Blackpool striker Jason Euell was quizzed by police over allegations he was racially abused at the Carling Cup match with Stoke.

Blackpool were beaten 4-3 at the Britannia Stadium on Tuesday night.

Staffordshire Police said a 47-year-old man from Newcastle-under-Lyme was arrested and later bailed until mid-October pending further inquiries.

A statement said: "The man was arrested at 9pm after a complaint was received that a supporter had made racist comments to a visiting player."
