 Richard Younger-Ross repaid a total of 4,333.35 |
A Devon MP says he has repaid more than £4,000 which he claimed for furniture at his second home in London. Lib-Dem Teignbridge MP Richard Younger-Ross claimed for four mirrors costing a total of £1,235, a £1,120 hi-fi, a £500 bookcase and a £1,475 chest of drawers. He said he was not given advice on how to spend allowances, except that they should not include luxury items. He said that he did not consider the purchases to be luxury items at the time but had since changed his mind. Mr Younger-Ross said: "What I did not at the time consider to be luxury items, and what the House of Commons did not advise me were luxury items, clearly now are considered as such. "In considering this I have therefore repaid £4,333.35 for the items concerned."
