Terry Fearns has scored 17 goals for the club this season |
A Shropshire footballer has been suspended for missing a match. AFC Telford United striker Terry Fearns was arrested in Merseyside's Sefton area on Wednesday over alleged drugs offences. He has been released on bail. The club said he was suspended without pay for two weeks, from 16 March, for missing training and a first-team game. Merseyside Police confirmed a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply. Mr Fearns, who has scored 17 goals this season, was not named in Telford manager Rob Smith's squad for their match against King's Lynn on Saturday. AFC Telford United said it had written to inform the player of his two-week suspension and he had seven days to appeal against the decision. Mr Fearns joined the Bucks from Droylsden last summer. His previous clubs include Wigan Athletic and Southport, where he scored 41 goals in the 2004-2005 season.
