Police raids find drugs and guns

Up to 300 police officers have taken part in a series of raids at 22 addresses in Hertfordshire.

The raids were part of a police operation tackling the supply of drugs, firearms and counterfeit clothing.

Five dog units and firearms experts from Hertfordshire, Thames Valley, Essex and Metropolitan police forces, took part.

Twenty people were arrested in Hemel Hempstead and cash, drugs and firearms were recovered.

'Disrupting drugs markets'

Det Ch Insp Paul Williamson, from Hertfordshire's serious and organised crime unit which planned the operation, said: "This has been one of the largest intelligence led operations undertaken by Hertfordshire Constabulary.

"The arrests which have been made...show our commitment to tackling serious and organised crime and denying criminals the use of our county."

Four men arrested on Monday are a 23-year-old from Hemel Hempstead, a 24-year-old from Luton, a 25-year-old from Luton and a 21-year-old from Hemel Hempstead.

Twenty people arrested in Hemel Hempstead on Tuesday are in custody.
