Widespread icy roads across South

Cars on the M3 in Hampshire on Friday morning
Slushy surfaces combined with a hard frost will lead to icy stretches

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for Dorset, Berkshire and Hampshire, predicting widespread icy roads across the South.

The combination of "wet or slushy" surfaces combined with a hard frost will lead to widespread icy stretches on untreated roads and pavements.

A spokesman urged members of the public to take extra care and refer to the relevant authority for further advice.

The warning, issued at 1700 GMT, will remain until 1000 GMT on Sunday.
