Schools could re-open again soon

Flights at Luton Airport were cancelled

All schools across the region look set to re-open, after only one was closed in Norfolk on Tuesday and most in Suffolk open.

Parents are advised to check the website and contact schools for up-to-date information on openings.

Flights out of Luton Airport in Bedfordshire are subject to delays or cancellations. Stansted Airport is operating normally.

Teams of gritters once again were out on the roads overnight.

Sending children back

On Tuesday Bedfordshire had 104 schools closed while in Buckinghamshire 213 were shut.

In Hertfordshire, 187 schools remained closed for a second day.

Hertfordshire County Council warned parents there would be no school buses provided.

In Essex, about 351 schools, 48 nurseries or pre-schools and 22 colleges decided to close for the day, but most schools in Norfolk and Suffolk were open.

About 72 schools in Northamptonshire and 12 in Cambridgeshire were closed.

But parents could be sending children back to school on Wednesday due to improved weather reports for the parts of the East.

County councils are asking people to check their website and local radio stations to find out what schools will be open.

Dangerous roads

But as temperatures plummet overnight rain and slush could turn to ice.

Gritters are out on the region's roads again but drivers are still advised to take extra care.

On Tuesday a revised National Express East Anglia train service was operating between London Liverpool Street and Cambridge, and Liverpool Street and Enfield Town.

First Capital Connect services between Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and London as well as Virgin Trains on the West Coast line were disrupted.

There was a revised timetable operating between King's Cross and Peterborough and King's Cross and Cambridge.

National Express East Anglia said train services between Norwich and London Liverpool Street were operating normally.
