Price increase plan of water firm

Thames Water has announced plans to raise its prices in 2010.

The firm, which serves the Thames Valley including London, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and Berkshire, said the cash would be re-invested over five years.

Customers were asked for their views, with issues like leakage and increased water metering to be reviewed. Ofwat will now review the proposals.

Thames water said even after the rises, the average customer would still pay less than 1 a day.
