A teenage actor who was stabbed to death outside a bar last month is to be given a posthumous bravery award for helping to catch two criminals. Robert Knox, 18, of Sidcup, south-east London, was laid to rest on Wednesday after he was killed on 24 May. His family will receive the award from Kent Police after he helped catch two men who were chased from the Marks & Spencer store in Bluewater last year. The men were later convicted of grievous bodily harm. 'Hardest thing' Robert was working as a member of staff in the store when, along with other employees, he helped to apprehend the pair. | I just wish I could tell him how proud we are |
His parents said they were extremely proud of the posthumous honour. "I just wish I could tell him how proud we are," said his mother, Sally Knox. "I just hope that he's up there watching. It will be the hardest thing to do [to receive the award], but will make us so, so proud." Robert's father, Colin Knox, said although they had known about their son's actions, it was played down at the time. "That's the type of boy Robert was - he was a person that always thought of other people first and not himself." His family will receive the award next Friday, 4 July. Karl Bishop, 21, from Sidcup, has been charged with Robert's murder and is due to appear at the Old Bailey on 2 September.
