Five sports grounds in Surrey have been included in a guide suggesting training venues for the 2012 Paralympics. The facilities featured in the London 2012 Organising Committee (Locog) south-east brochure, launched at the University of Surrey on Wednesday. The University itself was listed along with the National Shooting Centre in Bisley and the Guildford Spectrum. The Excel Centre in Walton-on-Thames and the Edge Leisure Centre in Haslemere were also recommended. Speaking at the launch of the guide, Paddy Herlihy of the South East England Development Agency said the Paralympic games celebrated excellence in disability. "We will now begin working with the venues selected to promote them to National Paralympic Associations all over the world," he added. Countries who choose to train at UK camps will be given vouchers worth 25,000 to spend in the local area. The guide included 35 sports facilities in the South East, with eight in Kent and one in Sussex. More than 170 venues were recommended across the UK.
