Battle honours for service staff
Bomb blast in Kandahar

Twenty four medals for leadership and courage have been awarded to service personnel based in eastern England.

The Royal Anglians received 14 honours and six medals go to the RAF Regiment at Honington in Suffolk.

The Light Dragoons based at Swanton Morley in Norfolk were awarded three medals and The Army Air Corps, from Wattisham in Suffolk received one.

A posthumous Military Cross has gone to Capt David Hicks of the Royal Anglians, who went to school in Northamptonshire.

The Royal Anglians lost nine soldiers in Afghanistan.

Lt Col Stuart Carver from 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment receives the Distinguished Service Order.

Military Crosses are awarded to Lance Cpl Levi Ashby from Wells-next-the-Sea in Norfolk, Cpl Robert Moore of Southend in Essex, Lance Cpl Oliver Ruecker of Mundford in Norfolk, Major Dominic Biddick of Leicester and Major Michael Aston of Australia.

Several Royal Anglians are honoured by being Mentioned in Despatches.

They are Sgt Steven Armon of Cambridge, Warrant Officer Kevin Main of Colchester, Major John Messenger of Bideford in Devon, Warrant Officer Timothy Newton of Thakenham in Sussex and Sgt Simon Panter of Harleston in Norfolk.

A Queen's Gallantry Medal goes to Pte Luke Nadriva of Fiji and Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service to Capt Philip Blanchfield of Fakenham in Norfolk.

Pilot honoured

The RAF Regiment based at Honington in Suffolk is honoured with an OBE going to Sq Ldr Jason Sutton and medals to servicemen.

Cpl David Hayden receives a Military Cross and a Queen's Commendation for Bravery goes both to Sgt John Bainbridge and Snr Aircraftman James Stinson, both from Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk.

A Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service is awarded to Warrant Officer Robert Hargreaves.

Senior Aircraftman Benjamin Wharton is Mentioned in Despatches.

Lt Nicholas Binnington and Major John Godfrey of the Light Dragoons based at Swanton Morley in Norfolk are Mentioned in Despatches.

A Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service goes to Lt Col Henry Watson.

Capt Adam Hare, an Apache pilot with the Army Air Corps based at Wattisham Airfield in Suffolk is awarded a Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service.
