The closure will be phased in from 2009 |
Union leaders and senior managers from Cadbury are meeting to discuss the future of a factory near Bristol scheduled for closure by 2010. The factory, in Keynsham, is due to close with the loss of 500 jobs as Cadbury moves production abroad.
The future of the Bournville plant in Birmingham, where a further 200 jobs could be cut, is also being discussed.
Steve Preddy, of the union Unite, said Cadbury had committed to listen to the union. The firm declined to comment.
Mr Preddy added: "Workers are determined to see these awful proposals reversed."
A protest rally against the plans has already been held.
