Health boss to run two NHS trusts
St Peter's Hospital, Chertsey
Mr Douglas moved to Ashford and St Peter's in 2002
A Surrey health chief who has become the interim boss of an NHS trust in Kent will be splitting his time equally between the two jobs.

Glenn Douglas took over as chief executive of Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust after its former boss Rose Gibb stepped down.

He will run the Kent trust until a new chief is appointed there.

Mr Douglas said he was confident his Surrey team would manage while he was in Kent, and that he was "not leaving".

He took over at Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Trust in 2002.

'Difficult time'

The secondment was requested by the strategic health authority for the region.

Candy Morris, chief executive of NHS South East Coast, said she recognised it was a busy time for Ashford and St Peter's, because of merger discussions under way there.

But she said: "Glenn has exactly the type of experience that I believe Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells need at this difficult time for them."

Chairman of Ashford and St. Peter's, Clive Thompson, said: "The timing is not of our choosing but it is important that our success and experience at Ashford and St Peter's benefits others."
