Fans arrested at friendly match | | Cumbria Police arrested 16 football fans when disorder broke out following a pre-season friendly between Carlisle and Newcastle United. Most of the arrests were made at pubs in Carlisle city centre, though a small number were made at the match. They were for public disorder offences or being drunk and disorderly. No breakdown was given as to which teams those arrested supported. Police said the majority of fans were there to enjoy the match.
