More than 100 tonnes of rubbish has been gathered from canals and towpaths in the West Midlands, making the region the dirtiest in the country. More than 50 shopping trolleys, several fridges and empty safes were recovered.
Volunteers spanned 62 miles, clearing waterways in Worcestershire, Birmingham, Wolverhampton and the Black Country and Staffordshire.
British Waterways' Towpath Tidy campaign aims to improve navigation ahead of the summer and help wildlife.
Up to 300 members of different communities, the Inland Waterways Association, Brownhills Canoe & Outdoor Centre and Tipton Litterwatch, joined 82 British Waterways volunteers for the three-week project.
