The airport has reopened after a luggage scare |
Durham Tees Valley Airport has re-opened after a "suspicious suitcase" sparked an evacuation of the terminal. Army bomb disposal experts were called to the airport, near Darlington, on Thursday morning when security staff raised the alarm.
Following a scan of the luggage all passengers and staff were told to leave the terminal, but the suitcase was later found to be empty.
All roads leading to the airport have now been re-opened.
Durham Police have launched an investigation to find the owner of the luggage which caused the scare.
A force spokesman said passengers should never leave baggage unattended at an airport.
