Horam Manor Touring Park, near Heathfield, is one of 2,500 firms across the South East being helped to exploit broadband technology.

South East England Development Agency (Seeda) said it may not be the obvious location for a technology hub but there was a compelling business argument.

Spokesman Peter Sinclair said a strong web presence was vital for small firms.

Partnerships set up with Seeda to help more than 500 smaller businesses improve performance through internet technology by July 2007 include Broadband East Sussex, the E-Kent Partnership, Connected Surrey and Connecting West Sussex.

Hotspots offer access to wireless technology which uses short-range radio signals to connect computers to the internet.

There are more than 2,500 hotspots in public places around the UK.
