Real Ale campaigners have staged a pub crawl to show support for a brewery plant in a Nottinghamshire town. The Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) wants to keep the former Hardys and Hansons brewery at Kimberley open, after it was bought by Greene King for 270m.
Camra members toured pubs in Kimberley and have also produced a petition of 1,200 names as part of the campaign.
The Suffolk-based brewer has not yet confirmed whether the site and the 140 jobs there will be safeguarded.
Andrew Ludlow, from Camra, said: "We have a lot of micro breweries setting up, they're doing wonderful business but the reality is Hardys and Hansons was one of the last regional family breweries.
"Should that site shut and be lost to the community, it would be dreadful for consumers, we need choice."
