Additional East Coast Main Line train services have been announced for this year's Great North Run. Train operator GNER will be providing extra services from stations in Yorkshire and County Durham to Newcastle on 1 October.
About 50,000 runners are expected to take part in the 13.1-mile event from Newcastle to South Shields.
Extra trains will leave from Leeds and York, calling at Northallerton, Darlington and Durham.
Easier going
Bookings for seats on the extra trains are available from 13 July.
GNER spokesman John Gelson said: "The Great North Run is now firmly established as a highlight in the sporting calendar, and raises many thousands of pounds for a host of charities.
"Our extra early trains into Newcastle on the morning of the race will hopefully make the going easier for competitors - at least before they reach the start."
Three extra early morning services will be running northwards from York to Newcastle on Sunday, 1 October, leaving York at 0640 BST, 0700 BST and 0720 BST. One service will start from Leeds at 0630 BST.
